I noticed recently that I’ve been getting a lot of traffic from justin.tv. Curious I asked my good friend DangerousDan about it and come to find out not only does he listen to public tranceportation during his video game video streams, but he plugs the site in his videos too. I just wanted to take this time to plug his site as well. You can get to his site here, here and here. =)
I also wanted to take this moment and give a welcome to any new visitors to the site. If you’re like me and love both music and games, I would highly suggest checking out the audio surf mixes if you got the game. Though, they’re still a good listen no matter what. They may even make a challenging go with Beat Hazard, but at about 30mins in length they may be too long for Beat Hazard. Feel free to test it out and let us know. Heck maybe I could even make a Beat Hazard mix or two =)
EDIT: I forgot to mention on the release post for volume 9. I’ve started encoding the mixes at 320kbps. I figured since pretty much 100% of the music sites out there (audiojelly, beatport, itunes, etc) are releasing tracks at that bitrate or higher; I figured it was time for me to upgrade as well. Previous volumes will not be recoded at the higher bitrate, but going forward all new volumes will run at 320kbps.
We hope you’ve been to OCRemix in the 10 years since its opening. If you haven’t, you’ve missed out on over 1,800 fan arrangements of various video game soundtracks, from ActRaiser to Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Thankfully, the site offers two BitTorrent downloads that let you grab nearly every single remix from the its decade of operation.
More than likely no one in the world cares about this as much as I do. The new server I’ve moved to seems to not default to full on WAP support for mobile devices. Now, the page seems to load fine on…well…at least my phone lol. More than likely you Iphoners will be able to pull it up. I seem to not be able to download my mixes on m phone, which is kind of a drag. I always wanted to create a mobile website so I could reach all my mixes on the road. Again, I’m probably the only one who cares…so I’m doing this more for myself lol. I’ll have to look into seeing if it’s a limitation of my phone or whatever else. Otherwise, once I get some spare time I”ll create a full mobile website…for myself…
I moved the website to a new server last night. The one hosting the site previously is getting turned off. I apologize if the links weren’t working for a bit last night. I forgot to reupload all the mixes after I switched off the old server. My bad!! hah! So far I’m really liking the new service. I only ran into a problem when trying to manually upgrade wordpress, but now I’m able to do it automatically. Wow!! Sooooo much easier. I like being the one in control of all my files, but wow the automatic upgrade was so much faster!
I hope you are enjoying volume 5. Volume 6 will be close on it’s heels since volume 5 was so delayed. I was also thinking last night that I need to do another audio surf mix. I haven’t done one of those in a long time. Tons of great new music has been coming out and I still got a handful of tracks I’ve yet to use. I’ve actually kinda liked doing some mixing of the “old” and new. I can’t wait to start laying out the new set for volume 6 and hey maybe I’ll even get to 10 before the end of the year?!?! =P

The end of July was a whopper. Record setting high temperatures and excessive heat warnings. Most of the time I wasn’t even home. Right after work me and chels just headed off to the river to cool off. I was hoping to have volume 5 up by now, but the heat and the day to day life of things have put a damper on it.
I was thinking about putting out more of a classic mix for volume 5. Not classic as in old trance (which I would seriously and will most likely do one of these days), but as in my old style. I’ve realized that with modern trance and just my growth as a DJ, the music has changed and my playing style has changed. However, when I played in my old ways I found the mix to sound all the same and not have the “transitional” mixes that I’ve found myself doing now.
I also used to hate vocal mixes. Now, though, I have grown to not only love them, but to prefer them most of the time. So I scrapped my last set and have started a new one. I played a pretty good set last night and I’m thinking this will be the volume 5 I can be happy with. Of course I’ll be making some minor changes and mastering it. Right now I’m shooting for posting it next weekend.
Updated to latest version of WordPress. Just finished and haven’t looked around it much, but so far I’m liking what I see. New version of the sociable plugin seems to have some issues with the twitter functionality, leaving that be for now. Just got over an illness that had me down for 4 days straight. I was beginning to think that I’d never get better. I’m hoping to have a new volume out for public tranceportation soon and break my record and have two releases in one month!!
On another note, BT released a music app for the Iphone called Sonifi and it looks freaking awesome. Here’s a review of the app (with video!). Really makes me wish I had an Iphone =(
Tons of great new music has been coming out, I’ve had a hard time keeping up. I think I’ve grabbed a lot of great ones though. I can’t wait to put them to good use =)
It been a busy past couple of months. I also think that with the rain and all the gray weather, I haven’t been feeling like playing much music. I’ve got volume 3 recorded and I just need to do some mastering to it. I’ve also put my audio surf mixes on hold for a bit. The last set I recorded sounded fantastic, but I was completely surprised that it played out so bad. There have been a ton of really good new music to come out lately and I was surprised when mixed together that they changed so much in audio surf. I hope that trance hasn’t completely died off of audio surf.
I’m going to get volume 3 completed this weekend (hopefully) and then I would really like to get up a new audio surf mix. Last year I was looking to put up a special birthday mix for myself, but never got around to recording it. I’m hoping to do that this time around. I don’t know if I’m going to use the same setlist as I had last year, or if I’m just going make a new one. Actually on second thought, I think I’ll just do a new set.

The fourth Audio Surf mix is going to be a bit delayed. I tested out my current recording and even though each song plays absolutly fantastic in Audio Surf by itself, but when put into a mix they change compleley. Half of the mix is too easy and not very exciting. At the end it ramps up and plays more like it did with just the individual song. I’m going to play around with mix and try rearranging the songs and then try playing the songs a little longer. It’s not my favorite thing to do, to play the songs too long, but sometimes for Audio Surf it seems that it’s completely necessary for the mix to be enjoyable.
On a side note, I’m hoping to get the new public tranceportation set out in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been busy with some spring cleaning and visiting with my dad who came into town last week. Had lots of fun, but wasn’t able to do much mixing the past couple of weeks. Hoping to get a new guest mix up soon.
Quite litterly I got this idea a few hours ago. A lot of radio shows and internet radio shows have “song of the month”, “song of the week”, etc.. and I think that’s great. However, I don’t really have a set time of updating. I mean I’m going to try and do a monthly update, but honestly it could be sooner and it could be later. So what I decided to do is to list a personal favorite on each mix instead of having a “song of X”. Mainly because in each mix, there’s always atleast one song that I just can’t get enough of.
I threw together a couple of mixes last night. One for Audio Surf and one for the public tranceportation series. It was a spur of the moment mix so I’m going to clean it up a bit before releasing it. And who knows, I might add/change a song here and there. I also have give the Audio Surf mix a test drive yet, so I don’t know how it plays. So there might be some changes needed there. I’m glad I’m starting it now though. This should put me on schedule for a “month” release =)
Oh and check back on my previous mixes if you want to see my favorites for those. I’m editing the tracklistings now.
Upgraded site today (finally). I’m going to be adding in some more functionality to the site. Just fun stuff really. I’m working on the next mix and will have it up soon. I honestly never meant for it to take a year to get the next one up. After the next mix is up I’m going to try and get on release schedule. I want to try and shoot for monthly releases. God knows that I’ve collected enough music in the last year to do it!! hah! Even if I didn’t have all that back logged music, there have been sooooo many great releases lately that it’s making my head spin.
I can’t wait to get the new mix up and then start adding the fun little widgets/gadgets to the site. For the DnB freaks…check this out…
